About The Position

Hudson County Community College is seeking a Senior Maintenance Mechanic to lead, coordinate, and perform various maintenance and repair work for campus buildings to ensure optimal operating efficiency and cost-effectiveness of operating systems and equipment across the College. The position is classified as Non-Exempt and reports to the Manager of Facilities. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in facilities and equipment installation, maintenance, repair, and construction operations.
  • Successful completion of certified training in skilled and specialized trades preferred.
  • Prior work experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of one or more building skilled trades, methods, and techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and ordinances pertinent to building maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective organization, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, coordinates, and performs maintenance and repair work for campus buildings.
  • Follows and enforces applicable operating and safety regulations.
  • Responds to work orders from Facilities management and assigns work to Maintenance Mechanics.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and performs adjustments and repairs on facility systems and equipment.
  • Serves as the onsite contact with Maintenance Mechanics and outside contractors.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of materials, supplies, and tools.
  • Communicates effectively with employees, management, and outside contractors.
  • Provides assistance and recommendations to Facilities management.
  • Establishes and maintains documentation of work performed.
  • Projects a positive self-image of technical skill and personal integrity.
  • Coordinates and performs other maintenance and repair activities as required.
