SENIOR MAINTENANCE AIDE (SEASONAL) - NORTH COAST REDWOODS DISTRICT / REDWOOD COAST SECTOR "Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. The Senior Maintenance Aide reporting location is at 1500 Hamilton Road, Crescent City, CA 95531, Del Norte Coast Redwoods Mill Creek State Park. This position will work under the direction of the Park Maintenance Chief for Del Norte Coast Redwoods Mill Creek State Park. The Senior Maintenance Aide duties include a wide variety of semi-skilled road construction work including brushing roads, removing trees that have fallen across roads, clearing culvert, cleaning ditches; mulching large areas to cover exposed soils; providing bridge support for different phases of construction; site support for pulling roads and mulching creek crossings, safety railing constructing; site support for grading roads, etc. This position is required to lead safety training and develop task and resource hazard analyses. Essential functions for these duties include the ability to walk (0-5 miles one-way), carry materials (0-5 miles one-way), and lift 0-50 pounds. Must be able to cope with noxious plants, dust, noise, uneven ground, and an outdoor environment. Must possess manual dexterity. Employee shall wear all required PPE's and perform tasks in a safe manner. Must have the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with co-workers. Experience using light tools that involves brushing and maintaining roads is desired but not required. Position may assist Park Maintenance Workers in performing a variety of skilled road maintenance projects. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.) State housing may be required. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
