About The Position
Sets up and operates a large variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, CNC mills & CNC lathes to machine metallic and non-metallic work pieces.
Requirements
- Extended periods of standing.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Good vision for inspecting work and preparing programs/drawings on computer.
- 10+ years of experience in machine operation, basic computer skills, and CNC experience required.
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
Responsibilities
- Sets up fixtures in both manual and CNC machines.
- Operates both manual and CNC machines.
- Ability to use all types of machining measuring equipment such as but not limited to: micrometers, depth micrometers, calipers, height gauges.
- Completes paperwork to maintain records, fills out inspection reports, and department standards.
- Reads difficult blueprints or job orders for product specification such as dimensions and tolerance.
- Reads tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds depth of cut.
- Secures tooling in tool holder (chuck, collet, and tool post).
- Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers or fixtures.
- Loads proper CNC programs into the control.
- Responsible for achieving the desired quality level on parts manufactured personally and by lower level machinists and operators, with the highest degree of labor efficiency possible.
- Ability to troubleshoot and correct any problems that may arise during production.
- Checks machinery lubricant levels and maintenance documentation for ISO 9000.
