About The Position

Prime Solutions Group (PSG), Inc. is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Research Scientist to lead the development of advanced AI/ML capabilities supporting mission-critical national security systems. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of applied research, machine learning engineering, and real-world system integration. You will design and evaluate novel machine learning approaches, translate research into deployable solutions, and directly influence how AI is applied in operational environments. Working alongside engineers, data scientists, and mission stakeholders, you will help move cutting-edge ideas from concept to capability. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship (required)
  • Active Top Secret Clearance (SCI eligibility; CI Poly preferred or ability to obtain)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in one or more areas:
  • Applied machine learning research
  • Computer vision or image analysis
  • Anomaly detection or forensic analytics
  • AI/ML development in production or mission environments
  • Strong proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent)
  • Deep understanding of ML fundamentals: training, generalization, overfitting, optimization, and evaluation
  • Experience designing experiments and analyzing quantitative results
  • Ability to work with real-world, noisy, and complex datasets
  • Strong problem-solving and independent research capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or higher in a related field
  • Experience with:
  • Media forensics, deepfake detection, or multimodal AI
  • Transformer architectures, generative models, or representation learning
  • Explainable AI, saliency mapping, or attribution techniques
  • Experience designing benchmarks and managing dataset lifecycle/provenance
  • Background supporting defense, intelligence, or high-assurance systems
  • Record of publications, patents, or internal R&D innovation

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of advanced AI/ML solutions for computer vision, anomaly detection, and media forensics
  • Architect and evaluate novel models, training strategies, and optimization approaches to improve performance and robustness
  • Design and execute rigorous experiments to assess model behavior, tradeoffs, and real-world effectiveness
  • Develop techniques for model interpretability, confidence scoring, and anomaly localization
  • Define evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, and performance metrics across diverse and challenging datasets
  • Analyze failure modes, edge cases, and adversarial scenarios; develop mitigation strategies
  • Guide dataset strategy, including data curation, augmentation, and long-term sustainability
  • Collaborate with ML engineers and MLOps teams to transition research into production-ready pipelines and systems
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps, architecture decisions, and risk-reduction efforts
  • Prepare technical briefings, reports, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders
  • Mentor junior engineers and researchers; provide technical leadership across projects
