The Senior Machine Design Engineer, Automation will lead the design and development of automated machines and processes that support the manufacturing of innovative medical devices. In addition to technical responsibilities, Senior Engineers in this role are expected to lead cross-functional project teams. This includes managing project timelines, assigning tasks to supporting engineers, providing clear technical direction, and reviewing the work of junior team members to ensure quality and alignment with project goals. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving successful project execution from concept through commercialization.

  • Design machines to technical standards.
  • Leverage your expertise by sharing your knowledge and experience to elevate team performance and innovation.
  • Review documentation to ensure that quality standards are being met.
  • Interact with and guide outside department team members to help them transfer information to and from the Automation Design team.
  • Provide support for various teams to ensure that the project is running smoothly.
  • Specify off-the-shelf machines for production and process.
  • Specify production lines in need of automation.
  • Guide and mentor entry-level engineers in their projects.
  • Collaborate with members from all functional groups within the company as well as outside vendor representatives.
  • Understand and follow Applied Manufacturing's Quality Systems (QS) per training.
  • Understand and comply with safety rules and Company policies.
  • Experience with SOLIDWORKS.
  • Greater than five years of experience in automated machine design.
  • Experience as an engineering technician or machine designer required for non-degreed.
  • In lieu of a formal education, an equivalent amount of experience may be considered.
  • The ability to work in a clean room, lab environments and manufacturing areas.
  • A Bachelor of Science in some branch of engineering.
