About The Position

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to support our Hamilton-area campuses by performing preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and completing repairs across multiple building systems. In this role, you’ll work independently while also providing guidance and on-the-job training to lower-level Maintenance Technicians. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid maintenance experience who enjoys problem-solving, variety in their day, and taking ownership of their work. Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Licenses or other required certifications: Must maintain a valid driver license, vehicle liability insurance, and a good driving record
  • Experience: Minimum of five years experience working in a maintenance-related field preferred
  • Specialized knowledge, skills, or abilities: Possess mechanical aptitude
  • Possess intermediate knowledge of plumbing, electricity, HVAC, and carpentry
  • Possess ability to interpret blueprints and read and comprehend operating manuals
  • Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Able to effectively and safely operate all equipment
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds and have the physical mobility for bending, stooping and climbing ladders
  • Be available 24/7 for facility emergencies or to help with snow removal

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance and repair on mechanical, plumbing, electronic, HVAC and other building mechanics.
  • Perform plumbing duties such as repairing PVC pipe, repair toilets, and install them.
  • Troubleshoot and correct defective switches, receptacles, ballasts and other wiring. Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Perform troubleshooting to repair and replace equipment belts.
  • Troubleshoot phone, TV, and other electronic issues in resident rooms and in the facility.
  • Travel between different facilities for projects/work orders.
  • Operates a variety of equipment and machines including saws, power tools, blowers, snow blowers, salt spreaders etc.
  • Manages workload through work order system.
  • Completes work orders within an acceptable period of time, with high priority tasks being completed prior to end of shift.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisor and team about issues or facility concerns as well, and notify supervisor of equipment malfunctions.
  • Assists lower level maintenance technicians with work orders when needed
  • Provides on the job training for Maintenance Technicians I.
  • All other duties as assigned and appropriate for the position.
