About The Position

Methodist Retirement Communities (MRC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and serving older adults, operating eight continuing-care retirement communities across Texas. Crestview Retirement Community, located in Bryan, Texas, is an MRC affiliate and a leader in continuing care retirement living, offering assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation services. The Activities Coordinator role at Crestview involves administering, directing, and coordinating comprehensive community wellness and programming for Elders. This includes addressing physical, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual dimensions, and actively promoting the Eden Alternative 7 Domains of Well Being. The coordinator is expected to ensure all services are resident-centered and delivered in collaboration with the community’s life enrichment team.

Requirements

• Certification: Activity Professionals National Credentialing Center (APNCC) or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Considerable knowledge of computer use, including e-mail, MS Office and ability to learn relevant facility software.
• Knowledge of the processes of aging, and of personal and social problems confronting elders and society in general.
• Demonstrated direct concern for elders and an ability to work with them.
• Understands wellness is multi-faceted and encompasses social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in wellness and activity programs for senior adults in a long term care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer, direct, and coordinate community wellness and programming for our Elders that addresses physical, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual dimensions.
• Enrich the lives of our Elders by promoting the Eden Alternative 7 Domains of Well Being.
• Ensure all services are performed within a resident-centered model and in collaboration with the community’s life enrichment team.
• Be responsible for planning and publishing a monthly activity calendar.
• Adherence to budget.
• Documentation in accordance with State requirements.
• Scheduling the roles of volunteers in planned activities.
• Develops and maintains productive and effective relationships with area organizations (Colleges, City Parks and Recreation, area sports clubs, Arts Alliance) to provide related services to the residents, staff and members of the wellness program.
