About The Position

Your work will focus on utilizing Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems administration experience to provide technical problem solving and in-depth consulting relative to system operations in a Research, Development, and Testing and Evaluation (RDT&E) environment for a DoN customer along with: Engineering, design, and implementation solutions for multiple network architectures. Administration of servers, end-user workstations, and clustered systems operating in unclassified/classified network environments. Participating in planning new hardware acquisitions, developing operating policy, and interacting with vendors. Working with scientists and engineers to help them use workstations/servers to solve complex computation issues. Supporting user workstations and associated software. Assisting with application installation, licenses management, software tracking/distribution and backup/recovery of system configurations and user data files along with assisting users with new accounts and approving user access.

Requirements

  • Active DOD Top Secret Security Clearance
  • CompTIA Security+ CE and an active IAT level 3 certification.
  • Six (6) years of professional experience in Unix and/or Linux system administration of networks and software systems .
  • Experience in system backup and recovery; basic software management; security management and library management; installation and configuration of hardware; operational systems and COTS software; operating computer systems in different operating environments; and sizing, performance, tuning, hardware/software/network trouble shooting and resource allocation
  • Qualified experience in different network protocols including TCP/IP and major network security tools such as: firewalls, knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities, attach methods and latest detection methods
