About The Position

A Senior Linux System Administrator maintains an organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software. The environment is 80% or more Linux/UNIX and 20% or less Windows with 600+ physical and virtual servers covering various levels of very complex classified systems and networks. This position requires classified work and must be on-site.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Must have 10+ years working in a Linux or Windows Environment (Windows Server 2016/2019, RHEL, CentOS, etc.).
  • Must have a Top Secret-SCI security clearance.
  • System administration and IT certification in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields required.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and issue resolution principles, methodologies, and techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of Oracle and SQL database management.
  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization, VMware or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices; including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • Good communications skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow through.

Nice To Haves

  • ITIL v3 Certification preferred.
  • DoDI 8570.01m Certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth analysis and technical support of systems, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.
  • Provide operating systems planning and evaluation for performance analysis, capacity planning, and hardware upgrades.
  • Oversee the implementation of system specifications; integration, testing, and documentation are a key part of the role.
  • Exhibit strong technical skills as they relate to numerous systems and storage technologies including but not limited to: Windows Server 2016/2019, Microsoft SQL Server, DC's/DNS, DFS, Active Directory, Group Policy Management, DHCP, IIS, VMware ESXi 7, NetApp ONTAP, Cisco UCS/Nexus, ACAS, SCCM, Hyper-V.
  • Provide specialized expertise within multiple IT systems such as: Windows 2016/2019 server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMWare hypervisor, VMWare Horizon.
  • Perform installation, administration, troubleshooting, and support of server operating systems/services, storage, and Data Center solutions.
  • Maintain and administer Bare Metal hypervisors (VMWare, XenServer, Hyper-V, etc.).
  • Administer and maintain configuration management/automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.).
  • Administer and maintain Unix/Linux Operating System.
  • Configure and maintain SAN storage.
  • Basic enterprise networking configuration and maintenance; routing, redistribution, ACLs, NAT, VPN, Layer 2/3 switching, monitoring solutions (Solarwinds/Splunk), encryption devices (KG175, KG250, etc.).
