About The Position

The Senior Linux Administrator II is responsible for the design, architecture, implementation, and day-to-day management of a global Linux infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on the Red Hat ecosystem, automation, and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments. This role plays a key part in driving standardization, scalability, and operational excellence across enterprise data centers worldwide. As a senior technical contributor, this individual must be a self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision while providing technical leadership, mentoring, and clear communication to peers, internal customers, and leadership teams.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on Linux/Unix system administration experience in enterprise environments
  • Strong experience in designing, architecting, and administering Linux platforms with a heavy focus on RHEL / AlmaLinux
  • 3+ years of experience with configuration management and automation tools (Ansible preferred; Puppet or Chef acceptable)
  • 3+ years of experience with centralized configuration and lifecycle management systems (Satellite, Foreman, Spacewalk)
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation, including Python, Perl, and Bash
  • Experience managing infrastructure in large-scale data center environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience
  • This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3).

  • Compute cluster experience is a plus (LSF, Sun Grid Engine, RTDA)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, architecture, and automation of a standardized global Linux infrastructure
  • Provide deep technical expertise across the Red Hat ecosystem, including Satellite Server, Identity Management (IdM), and related tools
  • Manage and support a large, diverse global Linux environment, including system availability, capacity planning, performance tuning, and proactive monitoring
  • Own the full lifecycle management of global engineering systems, from hardware acquisition through operating system deployment and decommissioning
  • Automate infrastructure deployment and configuration using Ansible, Satellite Server (Foreman), and CFEngine
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools using Python, Perl, and shell scripting
  • Drive an automation-first mindset, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues and proactively remediate weaknesses before they impact production
  • Manage and maintain monitoring systems to ensure uptime, reliability, and adherence to SLA requirements
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide escalation-level operational support
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and implementation guides
  • Collaborate effectively with a global team of highly skilled engineers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
