About The Position

SENIOR LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE/GRADUATE NURSE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS’ AFFAIRS Robert H. Jenkins State Domiciliary Veterans' Home Lake City, Columbia County Annual Salary: $50,960.78 Paid Bi-weekly Available Shifts: 3:30pm-12:00am. All shifts are eligible for overtime. All SLPN's working 2nd or 3rd shift will be eligible for $1.00/hr. shift differential. Excellent retirement package and optional deferred compensation plan. Health, vision, dental, ‎disability, and other supplemental insurance are available at reasonable premium rates. Paid vacation and ‎sick leave. Nine (9) paid holidays and personal day. Tuition waiver available for State Universities and ‎Community Colleges (up to 6 credits per semester). Other SLPN / GPN positions, including OPS Temporary positions, may be filled from this advertisement within six (6) months of the closing date

Requirements

  • Must possess current licensure as a State of Florida Practical Nurse, or be in current Graduate Nurse (GN) status, possess an eligibility letter from the Florida Board of Nursing and the Authorization to Test (ATT) from Pearson VUE (within 3 months of graduation from an approved program)
  • Must possess a current CPR certification
  • Must be willing and able to work in Lake City, FL
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as required
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • One (1) year of experience working with a geriatric population in a skilled long-term care facility.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records

Responsibilities

  • Providing quality care to the residents to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act
  • Performing assigned duties to include but not limited to administration of medications and treatments per MD order, monitoring and providing interventions to meet the needs of the resident, completing accurate clinical documentation reflective of resident’s current status and supervising CNA and other supportive care giver
  • Providing administrative support that is technical in nature through established nursing standards, the individualized care plan and interdisciplinary teamwork according to established local and FDVA policies and procedures
  • Coordinating shift assignments to team members, providing supervision of licensed and unlicensed staff and follow up to ensure completion of assignments
  • Providing assistance with all aspects of resident care, treatments, self-administration of medications, coordinating medical appointments and spending time in social interactions with residents each shift worked
  • Reporting resident concerns and needs promptly to the appropriate team member
  • Assisting with monitoring and accountability of residents to enable medical personnel to accomplish health related tasks
  • Following Resident’s Rights policies at all times and maintain confidentiality of resident information
  • Consistently working cooperatively and respectfully with residents, family or resident representatives, facility staff, physicians, ARNP’s, consultants and ancillary service providers to assist residents to achieve maximum abilities, safety and promote happiness
  • Documenting services and care plan outcomes appropriately within the facility software/database
  • Participating in staff development and orientation of new personnel
  • Attending all in-service programs, training classes and domiciliary meetings. Assumes responsibility and accountability for information contained in the Employee Handbook
  • Observing all facility safety, infection control, risk management, HIPAA policies
  • Performing other related duties as required
