This role is all about keeping the library buzzing with energy, organization, and great service. As a leader within the library, you’ll help guide staff, support collections, and ensure programs and daily activities run smoothly. You’ll be a go-to resource for both coworkers and the community, helping create a welcoming space where curiosity thrives.

You’ll collaborate with librarians, lead initiatives, and step into a leadership role when needed—keeping everything on track and moving forward. Whether it’s supporting innovation, fostering teamwork, or helping the library adapt and grow, this position plays a key role in shaping an engaging, community-centered library experience.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited university.
• Minimum of three (3) years related experience.
• Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment and procedures
• Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire.
• Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a municipal or government setting.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads and supports library staff by planning and prioritizing work, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and fostering professional growth through performance monitoring and development
• Provides reference and research support by utilizing library catalogs and databases, guiding customers to materials, and conducting effective reference interviews
• Oversees collection development by managing the materials budget, analyzing circulation data, and maintaining a high-quality, relevant collection through ongoing evaluation and weeding
• Plans, develops, and oversees diverse library programs that reflect community interests, promote literacy, and encourage engagement
• Supports library operations by supervising volunteers, coordinating scheduling as assigned, and serving as Librarian in Charge in the absence of library leadership
• Provides technological support for computers and electronic devices and leads grant research and writing to support library services and initiatives
