About The Position

The Ohio Department of Medicaid is seeking an attorney for our legal unit. As Senior Legal Counsel in the Provider & Program Compliance unit, your responsibilities will include: Providing legal advice regarding Medicaid programs, including provider credentialing, public records requests, managed care, and provider compliance actions, among other topics Conducting discussions and negotiations on behalf of the department related to credentialing delegation agreements Reviewing and assessing contract breaches and making recommendations on damages Reviewing and providing legal advice and assistance with administrative rules Serving as a legal liaison between the department and the Attorney General’s Office, other state and county agencies and boards, and other private or public entities regarding legal issues Assisting the Attorney General’s Office with administrative hearings, trials and other legal matters and coordinating all activities related to the resolution of legal cases, including settlements, preparation of orders and tracking case activity Researching and drafting legal opinions, memoranda and other legal documents regarding Medicaid issues The preferred candidate will possess strong legal analysis and writing skills, be detail oriented, and be able to work collaboratively and independently.

Requirements

  • Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code
  • 18 mos. exp. as licensed attorney
  • 6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques
  • Completion of 24 credit hours of continuing legal education from accredited programs for applicable two-year reporting period pursuant to Rule X of Rules of Government of Bar of Ohio
  • Current certificate of registration pursuant to Rule VII of Rules of Government of Bar of Ohio
