About The Position

The Senior Legal Counsel, Americas will serve as the lead legal advisor for Leica Microsystems' business operations across the US, Canada, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. This role is pivotal in overseeing, managing, and developing the legal function that supports LMS Americas. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the commercial and operations leadership teams, actively participating in team meetings and providing essential legal support for daily business operations as well as strategic initiatives. In addition to local responsibilities, the Senior Legal Counsel will engage in global projects aimed at enhancing processes and standard work for the LMS Legal team and its clients. Key responsibilities include negotiating, developing strategies for, and drafting commercial transactions, contracts, and other legal arrangements, including key collaboration agreements, distribution, dealer, and sales transactions, as well as public tenders. The role also involves supporting governance activities of legal entities across the region, partnering with regional leadership to ensure compliant business practices in the sale and marketing of medical devices and research products. The Senior Legal Counsel will develop appropriate approaches to dispute resolution, manage litigation and government investigations, and conduct internal compliance investigations. Furthermore, the role includes providing legal and compliance training on various topics such as Attorney-Client Privilege, Anti-Competition, Anti-Bribery, and Privacy. The successful candidate will also assist Leica and Danaher with mergers and acquisitions in the Americas, overseeing processes from due diligence to documentation and integration. This position is based in either Deer Park, IL, or Waltham, MA, and offers a competitive salary range of $160,000-$180,000, along with eligibility for bonus/incentive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.
