The Senior Legal Counsel, Americas will serve as the primary legal advisor for Leica Microsystems' business operations across the United States, Canada, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. This role is pivotal in overseeing, managing, and developing the legal function that supports LMS Americas. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the commercial and operations leadership teams, actively participating in team meetings and providing essential legal support for both daily business operations and strategic initiatives. Furthermore, the Senior Legal Counsel will engage in global projects aimed at enhancing processes and standard practices for the LMS Legal team and its clients. Key responsibilities include negotiating, strategizing, and drafting commercial transactions, contracts, and various legal arrangements, including collaboration agreements, distribution agreements, dealer and sales transactions, and public tenders. The role also involves supporting governance activities of legal entities throughout the region, partnering with regional leadership to ensure compliant business practices in the marketing and sale of medical devices and research products. The Senior Legal Counsel will develop strategies for dispute resolution, manage litigation and government investigations, and conduct internal compliance investigations, providing training on various legal topics such as Attorney-Client Privilege, Anti-Competition, and Data Privacy. Additionally, the Senior Legal Counsel will assist Leica and Danaher with mergers and acquisitions in the Americas, overseeing due diligence, documentation, and integration processes. This position requires a proactive approach to legal challenges and a commitment to fostering a culture of compliance and ethical conduct within the organization.
