As a Senior Legal Counsel – Healthcare Contracting, you will be a leader in the dynamic legal team, providing strategic legal advice to internal business partners and leadership. Your responsibilities will include drafting and negotiating prescription benefit management (PBM) contracts with CVS Health’s health plan clients. You will actively advise internal partners on various matters, working with other team members to interpret and administer PBM service agreements, provide legal and regulatory compliance interpretation, and offer general legal advice. Additionally, you will identify business and legal risks and recommend solutions that balance these risks with business objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in transactional and/or complex contracting in-house or with a law firm, preferably in the healthcare space
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, the False Claims Act, and the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute
  • Commitment to high standards in work product
  • Admitted to practice law in at least one state
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • JD Required
  • Bachelors Degree Required

Nice To Haves

  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, the False Claims Act, and the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice to internal business partners and leadership
  • Draft and negotiate prescription benefit management (PBM) contracts with CVS Health’s health plan client
  • Actively advise internal partners on an array of matters
  • Work in conjunction with other team members and business partners to interpret and administer PBM service agreements
  • Provide legal and regulatory compliance interpretation, and general legal advice
  • Identify business and legal risks and recommend solutions that balance those risks with business objectives
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business and operational goals of assigned internal clients
  • Work diligently to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients at all levels of the organization
  • Collaborate effectively and work as a member of the broader team, providing practical and sound advice to internal clients on legal issues related to business objectives
  • Take an active role in driving projects to a successful conclusion
  • Provide counsel directly to the PBM division leadership
