About the Office: The Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) develops innovative solutions to public safety challenges, reducing crime and incarceration. We create vital programs that improve lives, generate community stability, and increase access to the support needed to maintain healthy and safe New York City neighborhoods. Recognizing that public safety cannot be achieved by law enforcement alone, MOCJ moves our city forward by collaborating with community and institutional stakeholders to improve efficiency, accountability, and fairness in the justice system. About the Role: The Senior Legal Analyst serves within the Office of the General Counsel and operates at a level above a traditional paralegal while not functioning as an attorney of record. This role provides advanced legal, compliance, and litigation support to ensure the integrity, defensibility, and operational readiness of MOCJ’s legal and interagency work. The Senior Legal Analyst independently drafts legal instruments such as Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), manages complex FOIL requests, supports Article 78 and other litigation matters, oversees document collection and preservation processes, and serves as the primary liaison with IT for records retrieval and email production. The role requires strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage cross-functional coordination across operations, policy, IT, finance, and external stakeholders. This position reports to the General Counsel (or Deputy General Counsel, as applicable).
