The MassLINKS ESOL Instructor participates in and contributes to the design of and delivers instruction for the MassLINKS Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC- an exciting partnership between the Adult and Community Learning Services (ACLS) unit of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC). The MassLINKS ESOL Instructor possesses a deep understanding of current theories and principles of second language acquisition and the ability to apply this knowledge to promote English language development, academic preparation for postsecondary enrollment, and enhanced employability for second language learners enrolled in the MassLINKS Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC. The MassLINKS ESOL Instructor provides rigorous, remote synchronous and asynchronous, standards based instruction aligned to the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education. The MassLINKS ESOL Instructor implements evidence-based instructional strategies and aligns professional practice to the Massachusetts Professional Standards for Teachers of Adult Speakers of Other Languages. The MassLINKS ESOL Instructor delivers high quality instruction that supports the acquisition of foundational English language skills, academic skills to support post-secondary enrollment, digital literacy skills, and workplace readiness skills to enhance employability. The MassLINKS ESOL Instructor works cooperatively with program staff and administration to ensure the social and emotional well-being of students and the development of critical personal, career, and academic skills. As such, the MassLINKS ESOL Instructor participates in MassLINKS Student Success Team Meetings, reviews diagnostic assessment results to inform instructional planning, and delivers formative and summative assessments to measure student learning and academic progress. The MassLINKS ESOL Instructor implements research-based instructional practices designed to accelerate learning and progress students along a relevant career pathway toward postsecondary enrollment and/or employment. The MassLINKS ESOL Instructor collaborates with personnel at MWCC and community colleges statewide, the MassHire North Central Career Center and Career Centers statewide, and regional and statewide partner agencies to ensure students are connected to all supports needed to enhance their success and prepare them for transition to post-secondary enrollment and/or workplace success.
