Where Your Career is a Force for Good! The American Red Cross is seeking a highly adaptable and mission-driven Senior Lead, Strategic Partnerships and Program Design . This position can be located anywhere in the United States. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The Senior Lead, Strategic Partnerships and Program Design will inform the design and technical program quality of American Red Cross’s disaster management programs and activities overseas. This position will support expansion and cultivation of strategic partnerships working in tandem with the unit Director and in support of other teams within International Services. This position will also bear responsibility for creating and maintaining the body of overarching guidance that drives coordinated, strategically aligned American Red Cross investments. The Senior Lead will perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.
  • Must be responsible and self-motivated.
  • Candidate must have strong verbal and written communications skills and must demonstrate familiarity with evolving industry standards.
  • Ability to work on a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support and socialize the new approaches from American Red Cross (AmCross) related to Localization, Climate Change Adaptation, Urbanization, Migration/Displacement, Community Engagement and Accountability and other relevant topics that pertain to disaster management.
  • Identify and share cutting edge research, innovation, and good practices in priority sectors with the aim of improving and scaling ARC reach, influence, and impact.
  • Identify new trends in Disaster Preparedness/ Disasters Risk Reduction, linking with other Red Cross Red Crescent/IFRC and humanitarian actors.
  • Support the planning and technical design of disaster preparedness programs, working with ISD teams to strategically bridge various institutional preparedness themes.
  • Lead the development of unified doctrine for the Integrated Global Programs division ensuring broad stakeholder engagement and consideration of future disaster management needs and trends.
  • Further American Red Cross’s commitment to localization of humanitarian action, serving as a resource for community preparedness and national society development.
  • Spearhead and facilitate coalition building around broader Movement disaster management initiatives in support of ISD’s goals, coordinating among relevant parties toward greater Collective Impact
  • Collaborate with the monitoring, evaluation and learning team and with the programs team to improve ARC guidance for community and institutional preparedness programs used to address gaps in technical assistance and other needs among national societies and key partners, including IFRC and ICRC.
  • Collaborate and contribute across ISD teams in support of strategically aligned program design, programs, and other priorities, including for response and recovery teams and the Global Disaster Preparedness Center
  • Help ensure contextual analyses are integrated into implementation as part of adaptive management.
  • Collaborate with programs team, country delegations, and other relevant stakeholders to support conception and design of programs through participatory planning and systems analyses.
  • Keep country offices updated on relevant tools, resources, guidance documents, and trends, and support efforts to plan future programs and strategies.
  • Support IGP, Divisions, and country offices in capacity-building, trainings, and the dissemination of the latest guidance and resources from AmCross.
  • Support quality assurance and evaluation of institutional and community preparedness activities, including field visits if required.
  • Develop and foster inclusion of measurement approaches working closely with ISD Design, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (DMERL) team to capture and share knowledge, identify and analyze impacts across projects and programs.
  • Design, facilitate and participate in disaster management-related workshops/events
  • Represent AmCross at international and domestic forums and events as needed
  • Participate and represent AmCross in relevant disaster management and resilience-building networks
  • Assist as needed in fiscal and program reports for management review, including the identification of resource/budget priorities based on capacity gaps and mapping assessments.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and other program-related materials as needed.
  • Contribute to Disaster and Preparedness/Disasters Risk Reduction related concept notes and proposals
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of IGP needs
