Position Overview: The Senior Lead Person within the department is responsible for ensuring standard work practices are being followed across all four cycles ensuring optimal operation of the Cable Assembly Department. To support this goal, the Senior Lead Person will work directly with Process Engineering to develop and document standard practices, conduct training and mentoring with Lead Persons, T1s, T2s. The Senior Lead Person will assist the Focus Factory Manager in developing an integrated assembly schedule to efficiently support system loadout on ships. The Senior Lead Person will assist the Focus Factory Manager in the development and execution of the department long term CAPEX program. This position must be prepared and able to perform all the functions within the area as needed, with a focus on meeting production needs. This work is in an environment where attention to detail, a focus on safety and quality as well as an ability to strive for continuous improvement are crucial.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • 10+ years of Cable Integration required
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean manufacturing/5S required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and positive communication style
  • Proficiency in electro-mechanical operations required
  • Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Proficient computer skills, including entering data into software program, looking up documents within an online library and MS Office, including Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret handheld measuring equipment
  • Efficiently use measuring equipment, including but not limited to tape measures, calipers, verniers and micrometers
  • Apply basic troubleshooting skills and make sound decisions
  • Safely work with hand tools and sharps, such as scissors, regularly
  • Possess the ability to react to changes of responsibility throughout the day
  • Must have the flexibility to respond to multiple assignments
  • Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to speak, read and write English with technical proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Train and mentor Lead Persons, T1s in efficient day to day execution of the Integration and test schedule requirements
  • Assist Focus Factory Manager in the development of long term CAPEX plan for Integration department
  • Assist Focus Factory Manager in developing an integrated assembly schedule to efficiently support system loadout on ships
  • Trains new employees on manufacturing processes and computer skills and provides ongoing coaching to all employees within area
  • Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through 5S as well as other improvement initiatives), including Gemba walks, value stream mapping and kaizen activities as well as audits
  • Directly interfaces with engineering to develop and codify best work practices for efficient operation of the department
  • Monitors process inspection and testing queues with a focus on level loading
  • Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices
  • Maintains a good safety record, has a working knowledge of the behavioral based safety initiatives, and accepts the responsibility to communicate unsafe situations
  • Adheres to the safety and quality standards (goals and metrics) of the organization while working within a team environment
  • Maintains timely and accurate production reports, checklists, and other documentation
  • Provides effort in all levels of work tasks, including highly technical job functions as well as cleaning the work area as needed
  • Responds to multiple production assignments in a timely and efficient manner
  • Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required
  • Other duties as assigned
