About The Position

The Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer, with specialized expertise in Data Center projects, works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers to deliver detailed construction documents for critical systems, including HVAC (wet and dry), plumbing, controls, and related infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 10+ years of mechanical design experience with a focus on mission-critical data center environments, including HVAC (wet/dry) systems, utilities, and related infrastructure
  • Autodesk Building Systems Software
  • Good time management skills, strong work ethic and attention to details
  • Individual must possess strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, department leads, and client representatives
  • Energetic and self-motivated
  • Works to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
  • Thorough knowledge of codes and common industry standards related to the design of mission-critical data center facilities and systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff

Responsibilities

  • Executes engineering design tasks for utilities and HVAC (wet and dry) systems supporting mission-critical data center environments, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and energy efficiency for high-density computing operations.
  • Prepares mechanical engineering calculations in support of HVAC systems design including heat load calculations, duct sizing, chilled water hydraulics, static pressure calculations, equipment sizing and selection
  • Plans and schedules discipline deliverables and activities including man-hour estimation, assigning personnel, and supervision of discipline personnel on the Projects
  • Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by discipline team
  • Responsible for the development of conceptual, preliminary, and final design documentation, including system sizing and selection calculations, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings, and sequences of operation for associated systems
  • Works closely in coordination with the project team and other disciplines as well as other design offices
  • Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those other disciplines’ inputs are incorporated
  • Works to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
