The Mechanical Engineer focuses on the design and engineering of HVAC and mechanical utilities for buildings. The individual possesses demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks, coordinate with internal and external parties, establish priorities and direct the work of others. Typical tasks and deliverables that are executed by or under the supervision of the Mechanical Engineer V include site selection, master planning, commissioning and startup, load calculations, utility assessments, energy modeling, design reports, code evaluations, plans, P&IDs, schedules, HAZOP reviews, installation details, equipment and system selection and specification, and coordination with manufacturers and trade partners. Project work includes directing design activities for all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation and construction administration. The Mechanical Engineer V understands the development and field implementation of documents through all project phases, sizes and levels of complexity. Within this role there are multiple positions, and their focuses are described below. The Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing oversight for the discipline at a project, office and regional level. The Senior Lead oversees the Mechanical discipline scope of work and manages the discipline budget on all project phases, sizes and levels of complexity, and directs and manages the workflows and execution of design and engineering support staff (Entry-Level to Senior) to meet client expectations and project goals. The Senior Lead Engineer may work independently or at the direction of the Project Manager
