About The Position

The Senior Lead Engineer, Electrical Design develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications. Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed. The Senior Lead Engineer, Electrical Design works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.

Requirements

  • Experience in PCB design fundamentals, including single-ended and differential signals.
  • Proficient in managing signal integrity challenges such as signal loss, impedance control, and crosstalk (near-end and far-end).
  • Experience with single-ended and differential signaling up to 50Gbps.
  • Skilled in working with component models (Touchstone files) and cascading them to create comprehensive system models for simulation.
  • Experienced in simulating digital interfaces (FPGA to DRAM, SERDES) and analog paths (PCB, connector, cable from signal driver to DUT).
  • Proficient with 2D and 3D simulation tools (e.g., ADS, ANSYS HFSS, Sigrity).
  • Capable of electrical length calculations for signal matching.
  • Familiar with interpreting signals in both frequency (S-parameter) and time domains to assess suitability for applications.
  • Proficient in generating and interpreting data-eye diagrams up to 50Gbps for NRZ and PAM4.
  • Proficient with Allegro or similar layout tools and schematics.
  • Expertise in PCB stack-up design, considering fabrication limitations and cost trade-offs.
  • Experience with high-frequency board materials.
  • Significant experience in measuring signal performance in the lab, including TDR and VNA measurements.
  • Able to develop test fixtures, from custom test boards to ad hoc probing solutions for troubleshooting.
  • Experienced in balancing cost vs. performance tradeoffs in signal path design.
  • Experience with flex circuit design for high-speed signaling.
  • 4 to 6 years in a similar role or industry.
  • Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions in multiple domains.
  • Participate in project planning and scheduling.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of engineers.
  • Review, interpret and may negotiate customer requirements/specifications and provide customer feedback
  • Lead the deployment of strategic programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.
  • Proactively promote industry best practices
  • May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
  • Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. creation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.
  • Testing, simulation and measuring (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations
  • Solve complex problems
  • Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
  • Analyze and interpret data and information
  • Recommend modifications for systems
