International of Alabama is seeking a Senior Lead Controls Engineer to interface with fellow engineers, maintenance and production staff to support production on our T14 Transmission S13 Engine Assembly Line. Responsibilities include day-to-day production support, process improvements, design and implementation of controls systems, network, and power distribution for current assembly lines. The Huntsville facility runs a 4x10 production schedule (Mon-Thurs, 6:30AM - 5:00PM). This role will support 2nd shift production (7:30pm – 6:00AM) and may need to cover production recovery times including Fridays and weekends as needed.

  • Develop and implement programs aimed at maximizing equipment uptime and resolving issues that impact the manufacturing process.
  • Deliver cross-functional troubleshooting support for production lines to ensure continuous and efficient operation.
  • Assess, recommend, and procure manufacturing equipment that meets performance, reliability, and cost requirements.
  • Lead the installation, enhancement, modification, and ongoing maintenance of manufacturing equipment and systems.
  • Keep detailed and current documentation on equipment manufacturers’ technical updates, safety notices, and recommended upgrades.
  • Analyze equipment performance and reliability to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to equipment repair teams and process engineering groups.
  • Offer instruction, coaching, or informal mentorship to colleagues and less-experienced professionals.
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of product manufacturing experience

  • At least 3 years of product manufacturing experience
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
  • Hands-on experience with Fanuc Robotics and Siemens PLCs.
  • Proficiency with industrial vision systems, including Fanuc iRVision, Keyence, and Cognex.
  • Experience configuring, modifying, and maintaining SQL databases.
  • Working knowledge of the Ignition SCADA platform.
  • Prior experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) controls and integration.
  • Experience working with AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and install medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems.
