Are you living your life's work? The Senior Laboratory Assistant position is a full-time role located in Lancaster, PA, with a work schedule of 7am to 3:30pm, including every 4th weekend. The position involves performing waived and moderately complex test procedures, supporting Quality Control and documentation, resulting newborn screens, data entry, function verification, instrument maintenance, specimen collection, and clerical work. Patient care includes care to patients in various age groups from neonatal to geriatric.

  • Perform waived and moderately complex test procedures.
  • Support Quality Control and documentation.
  • Result newborn screens and enter data.
  • Perform function verification and instrument maintenance.
  • Collect specimens and perform clerical work.
  • Handle incoming specimens: separation, centrifugation, and preservation.
  • Organize, label, and number specimens and worksheets.
  • Measure and dispense specimens and reagents.
  • Call, result, and document 'critical' values.
  • Monitor manual functions of test systems and instruments.
  • Record and evaluate quality control results.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and decontamination of instruments.
  • Advise locations on specimen collection requirements.
  • Answer telephone and take requests for collection information.
  • Report outdating reagent supplies and replenish lab stock.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in Hazardous Shipping packaging required within six months for Reference Testing Send-outs role.
  • Six months employment in a healthcare setting.
  • Six months receptionist clerical data entry experience in a healthcare setting with medical terminology and computer experience.
  • Ability to perform tasks using Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and other applicable computer programs.
  • Ability to focus on multiple aspects of a situation simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn and retain material.
