About The Position

The Senior Laboratory Animal Caretaker at the University at Albany is responsible for the care and management of laboratory animals within the Laboratory Animal Resources department. This permanent position requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of animal welfare and supporting a diverse and inclusive environment. The role involves working Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, ensuring the well-being of live vertebrate animals in a research setting.

Requirements

  • One year of full-time service as a laboratory animal caretaker in a research facility or two years of full-time experience in handling and care of live vertebrate animals in non-residential settings.
  • Certification as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician or higher by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science and one year of full-time experience in handling and care of live vertebrate animals in non-residential settings.
