About The Position

Responsibilities will require performing several chemistry work instructions and quality system procedures in a Food Laboratory. Applicant must have the ability to learn/perform advanced level work instructions and operate advanced lab equipment; able to work independently and resolve complex problems; maintain ISO records for process control and comply with quality system and safety requirements; perform routine maintenance and calibrations of advanced level instrumentation; ability to evaluate a situation quickly and react accordingly; proactive communication with peers, supervisors, and customers; demonstrated ability to complete continuous improvement projects aimed to improve the laboratory. Applicant must demonstrate ability to multitask, have excellent organizational skills, and assist in training of less experienced team members; other duties as assigned including inventory mgmt. and/or ordering, receiving and login of lab supplies, cleaning, and organization of shared workspaces. Precision and accuracy in performance on applicable work instructions and data collection is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science discipline plus 2 years of lab experience, or over 4 years technical training in a laboratory-related position, including at least a year of chromatography experience
  • Strong reading and comprehension skills are required for self-guided learning and application of scientific materials and other instructions
  • Minimum of 2 years of lab related experience
  • Experience in chromatography with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, perform maintenance, and repair of advanced analytical lab equipment as assigned; perform peer review of chromatography data
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office
  • Applicants should be proficient in computer usage as labs are paperless and digitized
  • Expert in LabWare LIMS functions
  • Must use safe lifting techniques to occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds
  • regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk, hear alarms and instrument signals, and visually inspect results
  • While handling chemicals, latex/nitrile/equivalent gloves must be worn to prevent exposure to standard laboratory chemicals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
