As a designer for Centric Brands, you’ll use your skills and creativity to create designs based on style plans, sales needs and emerging trends. This means working not only with our technical design and production teams, but also building collaborative relationships with outside vendors and other external stakeholders. Herve Leger is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Knitwear Designer to join our creative team. This role demands a deep understanding of luxury design, technical knitwear development, and an innovative approach to creating collections that align with the brand's iconic aesthetic. The ideal candidate will be a visionary who pushes boundaries while honoring Herve Leger's rich heritage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience at the Designer level; knitwear design experience preferred; preferably within a luxury fashion brand.
  • Exceptional understanding of yarns, fabrications, and knitwear construction techniques.
  • Proficiency in design software, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD, PLM, and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated experience working with global suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Proven track record of delivering innovative and high-quality knitwear collections.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of innovative knitwear pieces for seasonal collections, ensuring alignment with the brand's identity and market trends.
  • Research and conceptualize knitwear trends, yarns, techniques, and finishes, translating them into cohesive designs.
  • Develop mood boards, color palettes, and fabric concepts for knitwear collections.
  • Collaborate closely with the Creative Director, design team, and technical developers to bring concepts to life.
  • Oversee the creation of technical packs, ensuring accuracy in patterns, constructions, and details.
  • Manage the knitwear design calendar, ensuring timely completion of all development and production deadlines.
  • Oversee fittings and pre-production reviews to maintain design integrity.
  • Create presentation boards for internal and external leadership meetings.
  • Source yarns and materials, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and mills.
  • Oversee the development of stitch techniques, textures, and innovative knit structures.
  • Maintain accurate line sheets and manage the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Create seasonal design overview decks to streamline communication.
  • Organize and maintain fabric/trim libraries, boards, sample rooms, and archives.
  • Collaborate with Technical Design, Merchandising, and Production teams to troubleshoot challenges while preserving design intent.
  • Partner with merchandising teams to ensure marketability and alignment with sales goals.
  • Share accurate and timely information across teams for seamless execution.
  • Manage and mentor junior knitwear designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Present design concepts to leadership, incorporating feedback as needed.
