About The Position

BJ’s Restaurants is seeking a Kitchen Manager who is committed to excellence and thrives in a dynamic environment. The Kitchen Manager will oversee all functions of the restaurant during various shifts, ensuring a Gold Standard guest experience while managing team members effectively. This role is classified as exempt, requiring the manager to spend over 50% of their time on managerial duties and to exercise independent judgment on significant matters affecting the restaurant.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years full service, high volume, casual dining restaurant management experience.
  • High personal integrity, professionalism, and maturity.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid relationship management and performance management skills.
  • Ability to motivate and direct team members effectively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening and questioning skills.

  • Ability to stand and walk around a restaurant for 8-10 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all functions of the restaurant during opening, mid, or closing shifts.
  • Hire, manage, supervise, and train restaurant team members.
  • Ensure a Gold Standard guest experience.
  • Perform operational execution duties including opening, mid-day, and closing responsibilities.
  • Conduct daily briefings on important matters for the team.
  • Manage repair and maintenance issues.
  • Oversee the Restaurant Risk Review audit process and implement necessary changes.
  • Manage local restaurant marketing and community involvement.
  • Facilitate participation in the Continued Education Program.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies and laws.
  • Make recommendations regarding team member development, promotion, and disciplinary actions.
  • Cooperate with Team Member Relations Department in investigations related to restaurant inquiries.
  • Ensure safety and sanitation in food and beverage execution.
  • Monitor food and beverage quality and execution, conducting Quarterly Food Reviews.
  • Prepare and receive orders of food and beverages.
  • Conduct weekly inventories to assess stock levels and ordering patterns.
  • Monitor daily prep production and validate it.
  • Coach, mentor, and discipline hourly team members.
  • Manage guest relations and recovery.
