Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong Kafka expertise in production environments.
  • Proven experience building high performance Kafka producers/consumers in Go and/or Java.
  • Strong working knowledge of Kafka internals and operational concepts: partitions, replication, ISR, leader election, consumer group protocol, offsets.
  • Hands on experience with advanced Kafka configurations, including custom partitioners, idempotent producer settings, and consumer group tuning.
  • Hands on experience with librdkafka, including configuration tuning and troubleshooting for low-latency/high-throughput systems.
  • Strong debugging and performance analysis skills across distributed systems (networking, CPU, memory, GC, backpressure).
  • Experience collaborating across cross functional teams and working in Agile delivery models.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Kafka ecosystem components (Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, MirrorMaker, ksqlDB) is a plus.
  • Experience with security and compliance in Kafka environments (TLS, SASL/SCRAM, ACLs, RBAC, secrets management).
  • Familiarity with containerized or cloud deployments of Kafka (Kubernetes operators, managed Kafka services).
  • Experience with open-source contribution workflows (PRs, reviews, issues, releases, semantic versioning).
  • Experience building reusable internal SDKs or developer platforms for event streaming.
