About The Position

As a Senior JIB Accountant, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy and transparency across our energy operations. You’ll lead joint interest billing processes, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to strategic financial reporting. This is a high-impact role ideal for a detail-oriented professional eager to drive process improvements and leverage technology in a fast-paced environment. This position reports to the Operations Accounting Manager and is on a hybrid work schedule. (4 days in office and 1 day working from home).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
• 5+ years of oil and gas experience, with a focus on JIB and operations
• Strong understanding of COPAS and operating agreements
• Advanced Excel skills (logical/lookup formulas, pivots, handling large datasets)
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience with EnergyLink, OpenInvoice, SQL, and OGSys
• Exposure to acquisitions and process development
• Familiarity with automation tools and digital workflows

Responsibilities

• Execute monthly JIB cycles, including journal entries, cost allocations, and partner invoicing
• Maintain and update AFEs in the accounting system
• Serve as the primary contact for partner billing inquiries and issue resolution
• Support monthly close processes, including LOE and capital accruals
• Support monthly operations reporting packages and participate in related meetings
• Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Assist with audit documentation and financial statement support
• Track and prepare monthly payout statements
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives using tools like EnergyLink, OpenInvoice, and SQL
