About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Java Developer to support large-scale application and web services development initiatives within a public-sector healthcare technology environment. This role focuses on enhancing and maintaining systems that support Medicaid and CHIP programs , with emphasis on long-term care services and compliance with federal and state regulations. The ideal candidate brings strong enterprise Java/J2EE experience , deep knowledge of Oracle-based systems , and a proven ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in each of the following:
  • Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including design, development, testing, integration, and deployment
  • Java / J2EE development with strong object-oriented design principles
  • Advanced SQL programming and relational database development (Oracle preferred)
  • Development and consumption of Web Services
  • Experience with RAD tools and WebSphere environments
  • Ability to read, create, and modify Oracle stored procedures
  • Enterprise-level application development and system integration testing
  • Cross-functional collaboration with developers, business analysts, and QA teams
  • Development of system test plans, test scenarios, schedules, and defect tracking processes
  • Strong understanding of data structures, data migration, conversion, and transformation
  • Ability to evaluate user requests and assess system impact, feasibility, cost, and timelines

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting public-sector healthcare or government systems
  • Familiarity with long-term care or eligibility-based service platforms
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, develop, test, and document software applications using structured and object-oriented methodologies
  • Develop and enhance web services and batch processing systems supporting enterprise healthcare platforms
  • Analyze business and user requirements to assess feasibility, cost, timelines, and system compatibility
  • Design and implement new forms, authorization services, and claims workflows within long-term care systems
  • Modify and enhance existing Java applications, Oracle databases, and system integrations
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA teams, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, test plans, test cases, defect logs, and deployment documentation
  • Support and participate in system integration testing, defect resolution, and production deployments
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship; may lead or direct the work of other developers
