About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead complex, enterprise-level initiatives across a diverse range of technical domains. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with extensive expertise in IT project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional coordination. The successful candidate will manage large-scale software implementations, application integrations, cybersecurity and identity projects, cloud architecture deployments, and enterprise SaaS initiatives. This position requires a strong foundation in technical project management, change management, vendor and budget oversight, and executive stakeholder communication. The Senior IT Project Manager will also mentor junior project managers and contribute to the evolution of program management practices across the organization.

Requirements

Project Planning & Coordination (Advanced): Expert in managing multiple interdependent projects and programs, forecasting resource needs, and organizing work across diverse technical domains.
Project Communications (Advanced): Skilled in delivering complex information to varied audiences, including executives, technical teams, and clinical stakeholders.
Project Issues Management (Advanced): Proactive in identifying and resolving issues, especially in high-pressure environments involving multiple stakeholders.
Strategic Program Management: Ability to align project execution with organizational strategy, balancing tactical execution with long-term vision.
Change Management: Experience leading organizational change initiatives, including stakeholder engagement, training, and communications.
Vendor & Budget Management: Proven ability to manage third-party relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee multimillion-dollar budgets.
Cloud & SaaS Delivery: Familiarity with cloud architecture (e.g., Azure, AWS), SaaS platforms, and modern deployment methodologies.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate all phases of complex IT projects and programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations to ensure timely and successful delivery.
Manage cross-functional teams, including internal staff, external vendors, and consultants.
Oversee software implementations, integrations, and infrastructure deployments with a focus on quality and scalability.
Drive cybersecurity and identity-related initiatives in collaboration with security and compliance teams.
Facilitate enterprise-wide change management efforts to ensure adoption and minimize disruption.
Manage project budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective delivery.
Provide executive-level reporting and communication to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Mentor and coach junior project managers, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Ensure adherence to VUMC’s governance, compliance, and risk management standards.
