About the position

QSI is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Senior IT Manager to join our team. The Senior IT Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our information technology and computer systems. You’ll lead a small team responsible for supporting end users, managing our network and lab infrastructure, and maintaining critical enterprise applications such as Microsoft 365 and NetSuite. Your expertise will be essential in driving efficiency, security, and innovation. This position is a technical, hands-on role, providing comprehensive IT support at all levels and will report directly to the Senior Director, Information Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Information Technology and Computer Systems: Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our company’s computing infrastructure. Ensure all employees have the necessary technology tools (e.g., laptops, software) to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Lead IT Staff: Manage projects, timelines, commitments, and expectations. Recruit, train, and coach IT team members, including contractors. Communicate job expectations and appraise performance.
  • Design and Implement Systems: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement IT systems, policies, and procedures. Coordinate system maintenance, upgrades and enhancements.
  • Ensure Data Security and Backups: Safeguard data integrity, network access, and backup systems. Act in alignment with user needs and organizational policies.
  • Identify and Solve IT Challenges: Proactively identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions. Conduct system audits and assess outcomes.
  • Budget Management: Assist with managing the annual IT budget and ensure cost-effectiveness. Operate day to day activities that support the team while at the same time provide prudent cost-effective approaches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field required; relevant, equivalent work experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • 8+ years of operational experience in IT system/end-user support and in IT Infrastructure.
  • 5+ years IT management experience.
  • Technical mastery of Microsoft 365 (Email, Teams, SharePoint, Enterprise Apps, Autopilot, Intune, Entra ID), Azure, Windows Server, Mac and PC endpoints, SSO, MFA, and MDM.
  • CrowdStrike and AWS expertise.
  • Hands-on experience managing a SOX compliant environment, including managing an ERP platform (NetSuite) and change control.
  • Governance, Risk, & Compliance (GRC) background, including SOX and cybersecurity.
  • Network Switching & Routing (Meraki, Cisco Firepower) experience.
  • Must be a champion for pushing IT standards, procedures, policies, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Being on call and able to manage critical issues outside normal work hours.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to lift and carry typical computer equipment (desktops, laptops, monitors, servers, network appliances, UPS devices) for short distances.
  • Domestic travel as required, up to 10% of the time.
