About The Position

Back Market is a global marketplace for refurbished devices, aiming to make tech reliable, affordable, and better than new. The engineering department, known as the Bureau of Technology (BoT), consists of over 30 agile product teams focused on building and scaling services that create real value for customers and suppliers. The IT function is divided into two teams: IT Ops Specialists and IT Ops Engineering. The Senior System Engineer role is within the IT Ops Engineering team, which focuses on elevating global IT maturity by delivering robust technical solutions and continuously improving the IT tech stack.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in IT engineering, infrastructure, or automation roles in a SaaS-heavy environment.
  • Strong hands-on coding/scripting skills (Python, Shell scripting, or similar).
  • Solid experience with SaaS APIs and integration platforms (e.g., Workato, Zapier, Tray.io, n8n).
  • In-depth knowledge of Okta, identity lifecycle automation, and endpoint management (Jamf, Workspace ONE).
  • Ability to drive architectural decisions and lead technical projects across multiple teams.
  • Strong communication skills: you can advocate for your ideas clearly and constructively.
  • Fluent in English; French is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior technical contributor within the Integration Engineering team, providing direction and thought leadership across complex automation and integration initiatives.
  • Design scalable architectures for IT workflows and systems, and bring clarity to technical choices through strong communication and documentation.
  • Influence technical strategy within the team and across IT-related stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain advanced automation across the internal SaaS ecosystem.
  • Develop and own tools that enhance system efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support compliance/security needs.
  • Create and maintain integrations using Workato (or similar platforms), focusing on scalability, observability, and reliability.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of key projects from design and prototyping to implementation and operational hand-off.
  • Lead incident post-mortems and root cause analysis for internal IT services.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure internal tooling meets business requirements and scales with the organization.
  • Identify system inefficiencies and lead efforts to continuously improve internal processes.
  • Provide mentorship through peer reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical documentation.
  • Proactively drive the adoption of engineering best practices within the IT team.
