About The Position

Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states. Waymo’s commercial service is scaling at a rapid pace. We’re investing in our infrastructure to support this growth into a high-scale, world-class service. The booking team serves as the “front doors” into Waymo’s ride-hailing marketplace. In this high-impact role, you’ll be joining the Booking team to introduce high-value options that give riders agency to manage value tradeoffs, optimize the core booking flow with new modalities and options, and develop a powerful booking platform with intelligent features.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience with iOS development.
- Experience with SwiftUI in a production environment.
- Passion for building user-facing products with a focus on pixel-perfect UI.
- Experience partnering with product managers and designers.
- Background in test-driven development.
Nice To Haves
- Full-stack experience.
- Experience with UIKit, CoreAnimation, and other system iOS frameworks.
- Experience with performance analysis, profiling, and optimization tools.
- Familiarity with dependency injection frameworks.
- Experience with accessibility best practices.
Responsibilities
- Work on a small team that builds the core hailing flow for an iOS application that hails and controls Waymo autonomous cars.
- You’ll be focusing on premium and innovative flows that help users plan, create, and manage their trip — giving riders powerful features with industry-leading UX.
- Create delightful iOS components and flows using the latest iOS technologies, such as SwiftUI and Swift Concurrency.
- Build features which inspire trust in autonomous vehicle systems.
- The team works with UX designers and researchers, product managers, and vehicle software engineers to bring this technology to customers.
