The New York City Department of Buildings is seeking a Senior Investigator to join its Buildings Special Investigations Unit (BSIU). This position is ideal for experienced Building Inspectors as well as highly skilled investigators with substantial buildings, construction, or regulatory enforcement experience who are ready to apply their expertise to complex, high-impact investigations. BSIU handles serious matters involving construction accidents, unsafe conditions, licensing discipline or improper work, and other violations that pose risks to public safety. This role offers an opportunity to move beyond routine inspections or casework and engage in advanced investigative and enforcement activities that support administrative, civil, and criminal actions. This role is well-suited for experienced investigators with building code, construction, or regulatory enforcement experience and experience with accident response, compliance, or complex enforcement casework experience. Candidates should be comfortable working in field environments, analyzing technical and regulatory information, exercising professional judgment, and managing investigations independently.
