About The Position

The Senior Investigation Officer within the Investigations Enforcement team plays a critical role in delivering rigorous, timely, and legally sound investigations and enforcement actions. This role ensures that all investigative activities align with legislative requirements, uphold public expectations, and withstand internal and external scrutiny. We are seeking a motivated and resilient person to: Deliver high‑quality investigative outcomes that withstand legal, organisational, and public scrutiny. Strengthen the OCG’s regulatory impact across the Child Safe, WWCC, and Reportable Conduct schemes through consistent and effective compliance and enforcement decisions. Enhance decision‑making by integrating intelligence, information holdings, and specialist expertise from across the OCG and external partners. Provide leadership and guidance that uplifts investigative capability and ensures consistent professional standards across the Investigations & Enforcement team.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of NSW child‑related regulatory frameworks and the legislative requirements underpinning Child Safe, WWCC and Reportable Conduct functions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, high‑risk investigations to defensible outcomes in a regulatory or statutory decision‑making environment.
  • Proven ability to apply administrative law principles, risk assessment, and evidence‑based reasoning to support transparent and consistent enforcement decisions.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience.
  • Employment at the Office of the Children’s Guardian is subject to the satisfactory completion of security and related vetting checks.
  • All roles associated with the Office of the Children's Guardian are required to have a current Working with Children Check.
