About The Position

This is a remote/virtual position. Candidate can be based anywhere within the United States. Sargent & Lundy Consulting (SLC) works on behalf of clients to support electric power projects. We evaluate and optimize technical, commercial, environmental, and financial aspects of the projects for a variety of clients.

Requirements

  • BS in mechanical or electrical engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program.
  • 10 or more years of relevant power plant and heavy industrial control systems experience.
  • Experience with simple cycle gas turbines, combined cycle projects, coal fired generation, or reciprocating engines (RICE).
  • Understanding of instrumentation and controls engineering and technology.
  • Experience with DCS, TCS, and/or PLCs programming.
  • Ability to read and create logic diagrams and control narratives.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent technical communication and writing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in technical due diligence and owner’s engineering design reviews of conventional power projects.
  • General understanding of power station operations and performance reviews.
  • General understanding of process design at electric power generation facilities.
  • Economic, cost analysis, and contract development experience.
  • Experience performing field work (i.e. control system upgrades, commission, start-up).
  • PE license or ability to earn PE licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Provide development support, conceptual design and owner’s engineer services to clients.
  • Perform technical evaluations of electric power generation projects and facilities.
  • Support project economic and cost analysis, risk assessments, and contract development.
  • Conduct engineering design reviews and technical due diligence.
  • Support project development and conceptual design.
  • Travel within the United States and internationally as required.
