About The Position

The Senior Instructional Designer at Alaska Airlines is responsible for designing and developing eLearning and instructor-led training programs for the Airport Operations & Customer Service division. This role requires a subject matter expert who can exercise considerable judgment in instructional design, lead teams, and ensure effective learning experiences through innovative methodologies and content development.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience in instructional design, training development, or related area.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, human resources, education, or related discipline, or 2 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with adult learning principles and understanding of diverse learning styles.
  • Advanced experience with image/graphic creation and manipulation.
  • Ability to create compelling visual designs for training materials.
  • Experience with authoring tools like Articulate 360 and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience in analyzing instructional needs and managing projects through the development process.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven success in enhancing stakeholder and employee satisfaction.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work cross-divisionally and promote collaborative relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with learning management systems such as Cornerstone.
  • Experience developing company-wide trainings.
  • A professional certificate in Instructional Design or related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Determine instructional needs and define course requirements with minimal direction from leadership.
  • Influence cross-functionality and partner with stakeholders to establish training program roadmaps.
  • Design interactive courseware and materials using instructional design techniques.
  • Perform Job Task Analyses, Needs Assessments, Gap Analyses, and Root Cause Analyses as a subject matter expert.
  • Create course design documents, learning objectives, course content, scenarios, media scripts, and assessments.
  • Make decisions in course changes based on customer feedback to ensure satisfactory learning products.
  • Manage multiple projects to support the development process and ensure instructional integrity.
  • Oversee project status reports from team members and provide feedback to meet established outcomes.
  • Administer testing of training for deployment and coordinate content uploads to the LMS.
  • Allocate workload to team members and manage task completion, anticipating and resolving problems.
  • Maintain consistent and comprehensive training records.
  • Research new industry technologies and methodologies for content development improvement.
  • Guide professional development of junior roles and administer onboarding of new team members.
