About The Position

The X-Labs Operations team exists to accelerate the innovation of Comcast’s next-generation architectures and products. This Senior Infrastructure Engineer is directly accountable for the physical installation and maintenance support within Comcast’s national labs. Leads major initiatives within the Denver lab, serving as the primary technical authority for complex deployments and cross-functional projects. Overview of the Role: Responsible for participating as an individual contributor in project teams, troubleshooting operational issues, providing technical solutions to operational problems, new product implementation, implementing existing products and services and the overall upkeep and maintenance of designated areas of engineering. Engineer possesses a deep understanding of MSO architecture including CRAN, DAA, NDC, HFC, and cloud video. Individual respond to network incidents, determines actions or resources needed for correction, and drives resolution. Acts in compliance with industry and Company technical requirements, standards, policies, and procedures. Maintains in-depth experience, knowledge, and skills in area of discipline, usually determining own work priorities and serving as resource for colleagues with less experience. Interfaces regularly with vendors, engineering, and peer operations organizations, including Design Engineering, Video Engineering, CMTS Engineering, Systems Engineering, IP Network Engineering, Critical Infrastructure, and Project Management. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams, projects, and provides technical leadership to junior Engineers and project teams. This role will play a critical role in supporting our Access Network Engineering team, focused on delivering the next generation of our distribution and customer delivery network, along with other teams in the CONNECT organization responsible for delivering automation, deployment, calibration, monitoring, and other critical features as we enhance our edge access network. Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in MSOs Architectures (multiple-system operators), including HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax), DAA (Distributed Access Architecture), PON (Passive Optical Network), etc. (FDX, DOCSIS 4.0, advanced optical systems experience preferred)
  • 2-5 years leading highly complex projects, or high preforming teams.
  • Proven ability to analyze and physically evaluate complex IP/RF/Optical networks, identify issues, and apply corrections or enhancements to ensure network operation efficiency.
  • A self-starter who demonstrates critical thinking, self-motivation, time-management, courage, and curiosity.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Critical Infrastructure systems (power/space/cooling) and their importance to Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM).
  • Ability to identify operational and performance opportunities; assist with creating strategies and recommendations to improve network availability, and proactively contribute insights within the area of expertise to simplify future additions and changes.
  • Ability to partner with functional teams to influence and drive alignment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with ticketing platforms, ie. JIRA, workflow, IOP, etc.

  • Proven experience mentoring junior engineers, creating structured development plans, and delegating complex work while maintaining accountability for outcomes.
  • Ability to translate complex technical challenges into clear business impact and executive-level updates, including risk framing and solution recommendations.
