The Security Engineer will be responsible for multiple day-to-day security tasks, plus various information security projects, as part of supporting the Boston College community's information security needs. Projects typically involve evaluating, designing, and deploying security solutions to meet Boston College's needs. Such projects frequently require working with others to determine requirements and select appropriate solutions. From there, typical projects include developing and implementing these solutions. A Security Engineer also recommends strategies to prevent security exposures and prevent intrusions with guidance from the Director of Policy and Security, works with others to manage access control for non-Information Security projects, and analyzes the output of various security monitoring systems. Day-to-day tasks include cyber incident response, evaluation and implementation of requests for firewall changes, monitoring of various security products and audit logs, and providing technical guidance regarding these products. Daily tasks also include providing ongoing support and advice to IT staff and end users on a variety of security issues, and ensuring that Boston College's security policies and procedures are adhered to. This individual will be highly focused on the technical aspects of information security, in contrast to a SoC analyst or a policy & governance specialist. Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience. This position offers a hybrid work schedule at the discretion of management.
