About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Lead Industrial Wastewater Treatment Engineer for our Lakewood, Colorado location. We are looking for an individual who is inspired to grow with us and become an integral part of our team. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental or Chemical Engineering, with a focus in Water Treatment or closely related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer registration.
  • 12+ years of relevant post education experience in a design or consulting engineering firm working on industrial and mining water treatment projects.
  • Strong engineering skills in process development and detailed design projects.
  • Manage engineering teams on small and large complex projects.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word along with graphics software necessary for the conceptual design of Industrial wastewater systems.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • MSHA certification.
  • OSHA HAZOWOPER certification.

Responsibilities

  • Serving several sectors including mining, manufacturing, oil and gas, power, waste, and remediation.
  • Leading a team of early career and mid-level engineers on industrial water treatment projects from developing the process through detailed design, procurement, and construction support, as well as operations support.
  • Effective collaboration and coordination within a multi-disciplinary project environment.
  • Performing, leading and/or reviewing tasks related to supporting current operating industrial water treatment plants with plant optimization and process decisions.
  • Conducting bench-scale and pilot-scale treatability studies including developing plans, executing work, data management, reporting, and oversight.
  • Analyzing and managing water quality data.
  • Working on alternative evaluations, cost estimate, pre-feasibility, and feasibility report preparation.
  • Process development work including preparing calculations on equipment sizing, reagent consumption, secondary waste generation, etc.
  • Creating process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and general arrangements.
  • Preparing process and mechanical drawings, in coordination with other disciplines.
  • Preparing technical specifications and data sheets.
  • Providing procurement and construction support.
  • Supporting environmental permitting.
  • Participating in business development opportunities and assisting in developing proposals including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Providing mentorship to early career and mid-level engineers to support their growth and professional development.
  • Achieving key performance goals through project work and winning work.
  • Collaborating with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.
  • Exercising responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
