About The Position

Airgas is Hiring for a Senior Industrial Electrical Engineer! This position is located in Cheshire, CT and requires a high level of initiative, curiosity, and potential to go beyond. The role involves ensuring robust engineering processes are in place and adhered to, including applicable internal and external Electrical Codes, NEC, regulations, Hazops, DOE’s, SOP’s, etc. The engineer will design electrical panels using CAD software, fabricate proof of concepts, create test plans, and document systems adhering to best practices for revision control. The position also includes managing internal and external research collaborations and ensuring compliance with applicable local and global regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in product development technical roles within manufacturing or industrial support.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Experience with Electrical Standards and codes (NEC, UL, FCC).
  • Experience with reliability testing.
  • Experience with Electrical Instrumentation (Oscilloscope, DVM, Power analyzers, Spectrum analyzers).
  • Experience with managing or leading projects associated with development of complex electrical or control systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer License.
  • Understanding of International, specifically Canadian, electrical codes.
  • Experience with robotics.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure robust engineering processes are in place and adhered to: ie, applicable internal / external Electrical Codes, NEC, regulations, Hazops, DOE’s, SOP’s etc.
  • Design of electrical panels using CAD software to create schematics, wiring diagrams and BOMs.
  • Fabrication of proof of concepts, prototypes and production level systems.
  • Creation of test plans to ensure the highest quality and safety for electrical panels and systems.
  • Documentation for systems (part, assy, BOMs) adhering to best practices for revision control.
  • Performing maintenance and upgrades for systems installed in field and document revision changes.
  • Creation of project plans, designs of experiments (DOE) and revision controlled documentation.
  • Participation in the AT&S established Performance Management Process (PMP).
  • Documenting results and findings into reports, emails, databases in an organized & accurate manner.
  • Project plans executed and completed on-time & within budget in accordance with the AT&S PDP.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with functional leaders across Airgas & Air Liquide.
  • Evaluation and protection of Intellectual Property (IP), working with legal department, and engineering teams, as required, to write/submit patentable inventions.
  • Collaboration with Quality & Regulatory Teams to ensure products are developed and validated in a manner that complies with applicable local and global regulatory agencies (FCC, UL, Intertek).
  • Development and maintenance of business critical relationships including consultants and vendors.
