About The Position

Lime is hiring a Senior Industrial Designer to join our dynamic Hardware Design team. We are seeking a creative, thoughtful and knowledgeable designer to help us craft the future of shared micro-mobility hardware. In this role, you will work alongside the SF based design team and imagine industry leading hardware products and experiences start-to-finish through concepting, prototyping, detailed refinement, and DFM support. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on industrial designer to make an impact delivering sustainable, intuitive, and lasting mobility solutions at a fast-moving company. This is a hybrid position that combines remote and onsite work. The incumbent will be required to be onsite at our San Francisco Hardware Development Lab 2-3 days each week.

  • You are a proactive team player, eager to jump in and contribute to the team’s goals and design our culture.
  • You are comfortable moving open-ended projects forward with limited direction; driving execution by setting clear deliverables and milestones.
  • You have experience designing products from start to finish collaborating with engineering development and defending key details to maintain ID and UX integrity.
  • You hold a high bar for excellence in industrial design.
  • You are comfortable working with cross-functional stakeholders to understand complex problems and collaboratively identify pragmatic paths forward based on design impact.
  • You craft and present high impact design presentations to leadership, building strong narrative supporting industrial design work.
  • You have experience as a project team lead.

Nice To Haves

  • BA in Industrial Design with 7+ years of industrial design experience.
  • A portfolio showcasing recent in-market products you’ve designed described with a thorough ID process, polished skillset, and refined aesthetic sense.
  • Proficiency with Solidworks, Keyshot and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience using AI tools (ie Vizcom etc.) in creative workflow
  • Experience developing ruggedized, transportation or micromobility products, in addition to consumer products.
  • Experience working with overseas teams and vendors.
  • Ability to travel to Lime markets and factories in the US, Europe, and Asia as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects that impact Lime riders globally, from conception to market launch.
  • Collaborate daily with ID, ME, and broader crossfunctional stakeholders to provide multifaceted design solutions, proactively guiding programs and escalating risks through impactful visualization and design work.
  • Mentor design team members, providing project feedback and support ID skill development.
  • Develop and present elegant industrial design solutions for compelling, mass-produced mobility products – with an eye towards manufacturability and durability - for our current and future fleets.
  • Create lightweight, rapid concept mock-ups for stakeholder review and develop great designs through iterative prototyping at our in-house 3D print lab and metal shop.
  • Execute a well-rounded design process - including sketching, complex 3D surface development, detail refinement, CMF, and excellent presentation storytelling - to drive high-quality ID team outputs from problem statement to final delivery.
