Are you passionate about driving scientific innovation and developing breakthrough imaging solutions? Join Hologic and our R D Innovation team as a Senior Imaging Scientist and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of breast imaging technologies. You'll lead research initiatives, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and leverage your expertise in imaging physics, computational methods, and software development to create pioneering algorithms and software for medical imaging systems. This role will require three days onsite in Marlborough, MA.

  • Design and implement advanced image processing and reconstruction algorithms to enhance medical imaging quality and clinical workflow.
  • Lead research projects exploring novel imaging physics, acquisition methods, and computational modeling to drive innovation in breast imaging.
  • Develop robust software tools for algorithm evaluation, system performance characterization, and technology validation.
  • Conduct comprehensive image quality assessments using established and new metrics; develop methodologies for continuous improvement.
  • Translate scientific innovations into practical solutions, collaborating closely with software engineers to integrate algorithms into product workflows.
  • Evaluate and implement state-of-the-art imaging technologies and computational techniques to enable next-generation healthcare solutions.
  • Support new product development initiatives and facilitate technology transfers from research to production.
  • Work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
  • PhD in physics, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of post-PhD experience in medical imaging research or related discipline.
  • Strong background in imaging physics, image formation, and reconstruction with experience in clinical applications.
  • Expertise in image processing, algorithm development, optimization, and computational imaging methods.
  • Proficient in C++, Python, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
  • Demonstrated experience in software engineering best practices (coding standards, version control, collaborative workflows, CI/CD).
  • Hands-on experience with prototype development, system integration, and performance evaluation in medical imaging.
  • Solid analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Independent research drive and leadership in technical projects.
