AECOM is actively seeking a talented and experienced Senior Hydrogeologist to provide technical oversight and strategy on complex site investigation and remediation projects. The successful candidate will oversee hydrogeologic-related activities on projects, manage and direct professional and technical staff, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with project teams and clients on technical and regulatory strategy. Familiarity with Oregon and Washington environmental regulations is strongly preferred.

  • Manages and directs professional and technical staff to complete complex environmental projects.
  • Leads team by utilizing advanced scientific principles, theories, practices existing technologies and past experience to develop technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Develops solutions which are highly innovative. Assignments are often self-initiated.
  • Oversees the preparation of technical documents and organizes project studies.
  • Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems with the support of the project team.
  • Supervises junior and mid-level staff during all phases of hydrogeologic-related project work.
  • Proven experience successfully managing high-profile, complex projects.
  • Thorough working knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, and MTCA.
  • BA/BS in Hydrogeology, Geology or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and motor vehicle records check.
  • May require enrollment in the medical monitoring program requiring initial and annual physicals.
  • Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Experience with cost allocation projects involving multiple parties on complex sites.
  • MS in Hydrogeology, Geology or related field is preferred
  • Prefer a minimum of 15 years of experience in a prominent role on hydrogeologic projects.
  • Expertise in fractured media, complex hydrogeology, groundwater flow modeling, and modeling of fate and transport of contaminant plumes in the vadose and saturated zones.
  • Ability to develop conceptual site models for complex sites across multiple media.
  • Experience with vapor intrusion assessment and remedial design.
  • Superior communications, writing, editing, and reporting skills, for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Must understand and have led teams of professionals in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies in support of Federal or State environmental projects.
