GHD has an opportunity for a Mid-Level to Senior Geologist/Hydrogeologist to join our growing Contaminated Assessment and Remediation (CAR) Group based in any of our St. Paul Office. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you: Conduct research or perform evaluations of a geological or hydrogeological nature. Create technical reports to inform proposals, budgets, support environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance for civil infrastructure projects or projects to address environmental challenges. Using knowledge of various scientific disciplines, may collect, synthesize, study, report, and recommend action based on data derived from measurements or observations of soil, water, and other sources.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must be able to travel to project sites for short durations (including overnight travel) throughout the region.
  • Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in applied science (Geology, Earth Science, Hydrogeology)
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in contaminated site investigation and remediation (drilling techniques, contaminate fate and transport, site characterization, protocols, remediation techniques)
  • Managing project teams, project management, mentoring staff

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Designation/License preferred
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports.
  • Analyze specific problems and issues to find the best solutions. Solutions could be technical or professional in nature.
  • Contribute to well proposals by providing complex analysis and interpretation of geological/geophysical field data. Involves using advanced modeling techniques.
  • Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues, or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients and customers.
  • Coordinate a complex process to conduct comprehensive simulations or modeling, testing the performance of different solutions.
  • Participate actively in a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to build own expertise.
  • Create and implement comprehensive mineral assessment plans.
  • Design and implementing complex exploration plans.
  • Gather information and resources, and draft and complete requests for bid solicitation requests for proposal (RFP) and requests for tender (RFT) on the requester side.
  • Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan.
