About The Position

For more than 100 years, under various names, the School of Human Ecology (SoHE) at the University of Texas at Austin has been helping the world understand the science of everyday life - the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the relationships we nurture, the ways we raise our children and the health of our communities. We are, and have always been, science-based and human-focused. Purpose To bring excellence to Human Resources tasks for SoHE. Additional work hours will be required during peak processing periods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • A minimum of five years in an HR generalist function
  • Comprehensive understanding of local, federal, and state employment laws
  • Ability to effectively manage a high volume of work assignments under dynamic circumstances
  • Ability to handle situations with discretion, good judgement, and an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and recommend practical solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task with a strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite, with an emphasis in Excel

Nice To Haves

  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP Certification.
  • Experience with the Workday application
  • Demonstrated knowledge UT Austin policies and procedures
  • Experience leading meetings or trainings for audiences of varying size.

Responsibilities

  • Process, review, and approve a high volume of various electronic business processes in Workday related to Human Resource requests for the School of Human Ecology (SoHE).
  • Provide ad-hoc training to SoHE departmental administrators for greater efficiency and adherence to Workday procedures and university policies.
  • Provide support and guidance for HR functions for SoHE departments, programs, and institute, including but not limited to recruitment, compensation, performance management, and separations.
  • Communicate effectively with departmental administrators, making recommendations for training or resources to improve knowledge.
  • Collaborate with SoHE leadership to host monthly topic-specific training meetings, providing best practices and expertise of Workday transactions and SoHE-specific processing.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, rules and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with ADA, FLSA, EEO and other related regulations.
  • Stay informed on campus resources related to employment and employee assistance and provide referrals as applicable. Escalate issues to CNS HR as needed.
  • Assist in developing processes and activities which enhance SoHE’s ability to attract and retain an exceptional workforce.
  • Maintain all HR files and records for SoHE faculty, staff, and students.
  • Conduct review of SoHE job posting and closing-out/archiving of cancelled, inactive, or past searches.
  • Provide assistance to CNS HR on any SoHE HR audit items in a timely manner.
  • Serve as SoHE's liaison with CNS HR and other organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
