About The Position

If you're an experienced Human Factors professional with a proven track record within high hazard industries, seeking project variety in a wide range of sectors, we can offer you the support of truly collaborative and social teams, and the flexibility to balance all the different commitments in your life. The AtkinsRéalis Human Factors team has established presence across multiple UK locations including London, Bristol, Manchester and Derby. We are looking to expand and grow our Derby office to meet increasing client demand in the region. Our team offers exciting project work in several high hazard industries, including, but not limited to, Nuclear, Rail, Defence, and Infrastructure. As a Senior Consultant in the team, you will contribute directly to these projects, utilising an array of HF methodologies, as well as nurturing and developing existing relationships with both internal AtkinsRéalis and external clients. Derby's strategic location places you at the heart of the UK's engineering and manufacturing hub, with excellent connectivity to key clients in the region and beyond. Our Derby office provides a dynamic work environment with opportunities to collaborate with experts across multiple disciplines. This role isn't just about project work though. You will be involved in the strategic growth and development of our Derby office and the wider team, including supporting the professional progression of junior colleagues. As part of our expansion plans for the Derby location, you'll have the opportunity to help shape our regional presence and service offerings. You will also be encouraged to take advantage of mentoring opportunities to ensure personal career progression and that your interests in HF are realised in the work that you do.

Requirements

  • Degree or experience in Human Factors or Applied Psychology or related field.
  • Substantial experience of delivering HF work packages within high hazard industries such as Nuclear.
  • Substantial experience in the use of Human Factors methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge in the application of Human Factors standards and guidelines.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience of managing and planning HF delivery to projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Post graduate degree in Human Factors or Applied Psychology or related field.
  • Experience of working within other ‘Regulated’ industries.
  • Knowledge of Human Factors Assessment techniques in relation to international standards.
  • Familiarity with latest UK regulatory developments relevant to major hazard industries.
  • Training Needs Analysis.
  • CAD / visualisation skills.
  • Record for public speaking and publishing papers.
  • Membership / Fellowship of a recognised professional society.
  • Project Management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain client relationships with major operators and engineering companies.
  • Contribute to the strategy and direction of the Human Factors team.
  • Lead client Human Factors and Ergonomics work packages.
  • Manage technical delivery to project programmes.
  • Contribute to AtkinsRéalis bids and initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff.
